I love you, man (cert 15)

Paul Rudd and Jason Segel continue their partnership but this time under the guidance of John Hamburg (the man who wrote Zoolander and Meet the Fockers!)

He sets off on a series of Man Dates trying to find someone to be his soul mate with some of the expected gay gags along the way. I had expected the film to prove to be rather homophobic in its take on how to develop a friendship but actually its not to bad.

Rudd's character seeks advice from his gay brother and does have an accidental awkward moment or two along the way but nothing that ever seemed in appropriate.

Jason Segels character Sydney is eventually introduced as a single man trying to track down divorcees at Open Houses and according to John Hammond is based on our very own Russell Brand (who appeared with an often naked Segel in Forgetting Sarah Marshall). The question is, what affect will a friendship with the man who actively lets his dog crap on the pavement and has a worrying obsession with 80's progressive rock - have on the perfect boyfriend Rudd?

The film is rude in places and as we expect from these guys doesn't hold back... But there is something about Rudd who is perfect as Mr Normal and innocent. Every moment I thought it was going to become your standard Nuts targetted flick it pulls back with an almost unexpected twist!

Director: John Hamburg
Starring: Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Rashida Jones, J. K. Simmons
Jane Curtin (coneheads), Jaime Pressly, Andy Samberg
