Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (Cert 12a)

Its been 19 years between adventures and the Lucas / Spielberg machines is back in full throw.

I was worried we may be in for another Star Wars follow film disaster, but probably because Spielberg was at the helm we are saved such horrors.

We are twenty years after the last movie and they stick to the timeline. Gone are the Nazi's and instead we have the USSR as the badies. Kate Blanchet plays Colonel-Doctor Irina Spalko who has managed to infiltrated the army in order to break in to Area 51 deep in the Nevada desert. It just happens they have also kidnapped Indiana Jones and his friend 'Mac' George McHale (Ray Winston) to help in finding a relic that amazing magnetic properties! Indy tries to put them off the scent, but is soon caught out by Mac turning out to also be a bad guy. He finds the relic and makes a run for it only to get caught up in a nuclear test!

The adventure continues at a pace with a young "rebel without a cause" Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf) bringing Indy a message to try and find his old colleague Harold Oxley (John Hurt). It takes him to darkest Peru on his journey to find The Crystal Skull.

This is 100% Indy. It is everything you expect from "Mr Jones" but not too much more.
There are plenty of chases, twists and turns and trap doors with hidden passages... plus man eating ants and lots of skulls.

Indiana's escape from the Nuclear explosion is genius. Every house should have a walk in freezer!

A fun ride in an old comfortable landrover!
