For anyone who has seen Planet Earth, the new feature length documentary "Earth" will bring only a little bit of something new.
That doesn't make it any less beautiful and powerful to watch. The BBC's Natural Film unit in Bristol have been at the top of their game for a while now and with the addition of High Definition technology the natural world has never looked more stunning (unless your lucky enough to see it with your own eyes!)
Once again we get to follow the story of the Polar bears on the edge of extinction, the elephants long journey across the dessert and the Whale's migration from breeding ground to feeding ground.
Some of the footage has been seen before, but there is plenty more that hasn't been shown.
Rather than the usual dulcet tones of David Attenborough, this time we are treated to the voice of Patrick Stewart. Not a bad choice, but it doesn't really have the impact that the knowledge of Sir Attenboroughs back ground in natural history has. It also feels written for the american (slightly dumbed down) market as its more than a little patronising towards the end.
That said, maybe we need to be patronised a bit more if this film can actually make a difference to how we look after our planet!
It is once more a visual feast and shown to the right people, it could make a difference.
It goes on general release on 17th November 2007.
