I've been filtering through a large stack of CD's that have been hanging around for a little while and came across this album without realising what it was.
I put it to one side and had a look and then through some of the of the CD's (they get a mention in the future) before this one slowly came to the surface.
The Puppini Sisters have been mentioned to me before, but I'm blown if I knew what my mates were going on about. I had assumed some comedy act. I'm still not sure if they are or not... but the music... well its different.
Its great actually. Just not what I expected. Take a step back in time to the 1930's and your in the right era for this stuff.
Its definitely not the kind of thing I can listen to for very long, but the girls version of Wuthering Heights is fantastic, its made me laugh out loud. I should imagine it would be great fun to see them live but really need to know if they are comedienes as well. They are doing very well as they are appearing all over the place - right across Europe!
I had a quick look at their website, but its difficult to tell where they are coming from, but I think its pretty much girls just having fun doing something no one else is at the mo. The site looks good though and gives you a great idea of the music.
One thing you will notice about my reviews and posts here is a lack of timeliness... The album I've been listening to was out in July (2006) and it's typical that I'm the last person to hear of them. Get used to it!!!
So since this is my first review posting I need to set up some parameters... So how about these gradings 1 to 5 (5 being best!)
Fun: 4 - a fab giggle.
Music: 3 - its good stuff but not really me!
Inspiration: 5 - for being something very different.
